Man Who Finds Locks Changed Is Arrested For Assault
A local man who came home late last week to find his locks had been changed, was arrested on assault charges after he found that another man was inside with his girlfriend.
Michael David Reed, age 26, was booked at the Lawrence County Detention Center on one count of assault in connection with the incident. He told sheriff’s deputies that he had arrived home to find that the door locks had been changed.
He said that he kicked the door open and found another man inside with his girlfriend. When he saw him, Reed said the man ran out of the house and to a neighbor’s home.
Deputies said that Reed was standing at the front door when they first arrived. They report that the other man walked around the house, prompting Reed to approach him.
Reed reportedly thumped a cigarette at the man, punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground, then got on top of him and began punching him repeatedly in the face.
Deputies were forced to spray Reed with an immobilizing spray in order bring him under control. They called for an ambulance and the other man was transported for medical attention.
Reed has been scheduled an initial appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on February 2, 2013.
